Beacons of Al Wasl

42 bronze medallions adorn the circumference of Al Wasl Plaza – the heart of Expo 2020. Just like beacons of light in a dark night, each of these bronze sculptures enlightens – they tell the stories of the ideas, achievements, people and places that are part of the country’s success and growth. Each beacon includes an illustration and a text (in Arabic and English) that connect to the important elements of Expo 2020 Dubai: its timing, themes and purpose, intertwined in the history and vision of the nation. Five international artists were chosen to depict the stories based on their graphic illustration style which was deemed suitable to create each original template for the bronze mold. Each of the 42 beacons are grouped based upon the relevant theme of the area (district) that connects to Al Wasl. The Beacons will remain in Al Wasl Plaza as part of Expo 2020s legacy.
